Textiles, Cyanotype and Panelwork...

I use my camera to observe and record the details of the world around me—I find myself drawn to patterns that carry a sense of quiet and stillness or movement and rhythm. These can be formed by natural processes, shaped by time, or marked by human presence.

My work takes the form of individual cyanotype pieces as well as fabric panels, often suspended from driftwood. The finished textile piece becomes part of a tactile, three-dimensional presence, depicting the landscape.

I explore both dry and wet cyanotype techniques, the latter providing more depth and an excitement of colours. Dry method is used in conjunction with my photography as a means of imagery and story telling. The process is deliberate and precise. Wet method is usually more experimental with found objects and can often bring unique elements of surprise. I leave space for chance — letting sunlight, moisture, and time write their own marks upon the piece. The process can create unexpected, organic effects that feel almost collaborative with nature itself resulting in deep colours, ghostly silhouettes, and organic textures.

Also used in my 'photo' section is the printmaking technique of photogravure to create panel pieces on paper to tell stories of the natural world.
